Potter agrees to join Rovers

28 June 2019

Tranmere Rovers have completed the signing of Darren Potter on a one-year contract.

The experienced midfielder was most recently at fellow League One side Rotherham United, and has made more than 400 league appearances.

Potter came through the academy at Liverpool, and has played for Wolverhampton Wanderers, Sheffield Wednesday and MK Dons.

Speaking about his new recruit, manager Micky Mellon said:  “He is a very talented player who we have known for a long time. He is somebody that will add experience and quality to the group.

“He has tasted success in League One before, but the most important thing is that he is a very talented individual with lots to add, he is a strong character and we are delighted he is a Tranmere player.”

Speaking about his move, Potter said: “I’m really pleased to join the Club. I’m a local lad so I know all about Tranmere Rovers and what the Club is about.

“I’ve got a lot of experience from playing over the years so I just want to add to a team and a squad that is on the up. The lads are definitely on the up after successive promotions and I just want to help continue that."
